Notes pinned above the hearth

Three evenings on the map, written down before the colors faded. Dates stay in 2026, which is the year this lantern is burning.

The pond path grew three bends longer

Past the familiar opening clusters, the trail bends toward the water. Boards out here reflect the glass twice: once in the bubbles, once in the dark pond behind them. The aim line looks longer because the backdrop is quieter.

I spent the evening on cyan bridges. They look fragile and then they hold a whole gold belt in place. Hit the bridge and the belt slumps toward the pots in one sigh. Miss it and you have a pretty picture and a thinner white number.

The new bends are not a different game. They are the same wood with less mercy for lonely singles. If a color has no sibling, leave it. The pond will still be there after the next shot.

Burst bubbles leave a cleaner spark

Something in the middle of the board got brighter. When a cluster agrees, the spark reads farther across the knots, and you can see which neighbor is about to lose its grip. That sounds small until you are hunting a drop.

Numbered bubbles join the announcement. A ring of 30s around a hot center is the board telling you the chain is already built. Your job is the last matching color, then getting your thumb off the glass so the fall can happen.

I stopped aiming at the spark itself. I aim at the dull bubble beside it. The spark is the result. The dull one is the door.

Cauldrons catch the light a little sooner

The row of pots used to sit in the dark until a bubble actually landed. Now the brews glow early: coral, gold, a pale yellow, a hint of cool light. You can plan the lane before the drop begins.

It changes how the last shots feel. With the hearth visible, a hanging cluster stops being a maybe. You either open the lane or you don’t. I started saving a swap for those last moments, so the color in hand matches the thread I want to cut.

Four mouths, one hearth. Feed any of them and the board feels finished, even if a few decorations remain in the canopy.
